Other special baggage

Sports or hunting weapons of small calibre and their ammunition

It is forbidden to carry these items as carry-on baggage but allowed as checked baggage. These articles will be put in a place that passengers cannot access.

In general:

  • Weapons have to be unloaded from their ammunitions, wrapped in a holster or a case,
  • Ammunitions will not exceed 5 kilograms per passenger and must be wrapped in boxes made of carton, wood or metal and wedged inside the wrapping in order not to knock together. (cartridges with explosive or incendiary projectiles are not allowed)

The carrier holds no responsibility in the event of troubles with police or custom officers in the country of departure, transit or arrival.

Passengers must hold a certificate allowing them to carry weapons and ammunitions issued by the relevant authorities.

These equipments are permitted in the free allowance and entitle the passenger to carry 5 extra kilos.

Batteries

The acceptance of batteries as checked luggage is regulated by very strict rules because their transportation is hazardous:

  • Dry cell batteries (dry polymer electrolytes) are allowed in checked luggage (wrapped),
  • Lithium-ion batteries (liquid electrolytes) are not allowed in the luggage and are only permitted by freight if wrapped in a way which complies with safety standards.

Electric wheelchairs

Electric wheelchairs for disabled people contain an accumulator battery with corrosive and therefore dangerous electrolyte.

They are placed in checked baggage only. Carriage of electrical wheelchairs on flights operated by Aircalin is free of charge.

Scuba diving equipment

Compressed air bottles must absolutely be empty.

Bottles containing pure oxygen are not permitted onboard the aircraft. Only compressed air bottles are allowed.

Scuba diving torch lights are allowed provided batteries or rechargeable batteries have been removed, in order to prevent any unplanned switching.

Bicycles

Pedals must be removed or fixed from the inside
Tyres must be slightly deflated
Handlebars must be parallel to the frame
All sharp sides must be protected in a resistant packaging.

syringes for medical use

Passengers will be allowed to carry syringes in the cabin provided they hold a medical certificate that authorizes the carriage of syringes and mentions the need for injections during the trip.
